Cidade na Colina — “a city on a hill” — puts Brazil's evangelical churches on one map. Anyone can find a church nearby and its service times, or add their own in a couple of minutes without an account. It is a BIS product: the same decision-and-systems engineering behind our client work, pointed at a free, social-good platform.

Finding a church in a new city — or getting a small congregation found — usually means word of mouth and scattered social pages. Cidade na Colina makes it one simple, accessible place, built for people of every age and comfort level with technology.

A live map with clustering and “near me” geolocation shows nearby churches and their service times.

The main call to action is talking to the church directly on WhatsApp — the app most of its audience already uses.

Large text, a high-contrast mode, a “listen” text-to-speech button, and voice input — designed for low app-literacy on any phone.

The catalog is seeded from OpenStreetMap (ODbL, with attribution) and enriched over time.

Engineered end to end
Cidade na Colina is designed, built, and operated in-house at BIS — a Next.js app on Firebase Firestore, running on Google Cloud Run, shipped as an installable PWA in three languages.
Its service times are enriched with AI (Vertex AI Gemini with Google Search grounding), and its map is built on OpenStreetMap. It is the same engineering behind our client work, pointed at a free platform that helps people find a community.
